Henry Rogers whaling journal, 1857-1859.

Journal kept by Henry Rogers aboard the whaling ship New England. The New England's home port was New London, Connecticut. She sailed to the Pacific with D. Hempstead as Master. Also included in the volume are records of a trip to California aboard the Barque Ripple, also of New London. The Ripple's master was Ebenezer Morgan. Entries generally focus on sailing conditions.
